Oman is a country of vast landscapes and a deep, ancient culture that largely flies under the radar. Jewel of the East is a series of snapshots from a hot, 45-degree week spent walking through isolated villages and towns, documenting the land and the people who live in it.

James Simpson is a photographer based on the South Coast of Australia who specialises in travel, documentary, and wedding photography. Known for his use of analog film, his images evokes a sense of nostalgia and curiosity in the frame.

Previous exhibitions include:
Monster Children Photo Competition - Runner Up 2016
‘Endless Summer’ - Goodspace 2016
‘Allora’ - Goodspace 2019

Jewel of the East is a series of photos documented on 35mm and 120 film. It aims to capture a bit of the unknown and gives light to the colourful and unique country of Oman. The exhibition itself is split into two sections - landscape photos and then a series of street photos shot at a market. The street photos will be set up in a way for you to view the photos in a similar way as to how I approached the scene. Expect tunes that take you on a journey and drinks by Goons Brewing on the night!
